Pathways
Our faith formation program is called “Pathways Family Faith Formation.” We hope that we can create a path forward that is best for your family with both home and church experiences. We are not asking you to teach per se. We ask you to witness your own faith and grow in faith as a family. The family must become the center of faith formation with the parish to provide support and encouragement to this end.

All students people in grades Pre-K through 6th grade are welcome and encouraged to participate in our Elementary Pathways formation program.

What is the Pathway CurriculumThe curriculum for our Pathways formation is produced in “modules” or “Pathway.” Each module or “Pathway” consists of several family meetings, followed by Church sessions.
The Pathways curriculum will provide Families with a guide on how to complete family gatherings. This guide will ask families to complete different tasks, each month, during their family meetings.
Beginning in the Fall of 2024, families who are continuing their formation from the previous year will be working with Pathway’s “Wonder” module. Wonder consists of 8 at home sessions, along with 7 Sunday sessions. Through the Wonder module, Families will encounter the power of storytelling in the parables of Jesus through engaging their imaginations, hands-on activities, and meaningful conversations. Help families draw out the moral of each story and apply it to their daily lives. Watch the transforming stories of our faith come alive in the homes of families, with Wonder.
Families who are new to Pathways will participate in the “Root” module. Root is a foundational catechetical experience focusing on the Creed for children, teens, and parents, with age appropriate content for each. Over the course of 6 self-led Mini-Series, and/or 6 Family Meetings, and 7 at-church Sessions, families will grow into a deeper understanding of our faith as they are led through the contents of the first part of the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
Our Sunday sessions are held on the 2nd Sunday of the month, beginning in September of 2024 through April 2024. Families will not meet on the 2nd Sunday in December.

Pathway Family MeetingThe Pathways model uses Family Meetings to offer households the opportunity to pray and do faith-based family activities together, all while learning more about their Catholic faith and developing a closer relationship with Jesus Christ.
Each family meeting contains the following…
- Gathering prayer
- A “Check In” - a question that is discussed as a family.
- An Activity - Families will participate in an activity together. Families will mark these activities using the Pathways online app called “Martha.”
- Teaching - The family will discuss a particular Church teaching which stems from the “Check - in” and “Activity.”

Pathways Adult Formation
It is the responsibility of the parent, by virtue of presenting their child for Baptism, to be the primary Catechists for their children.
It is the responsibility of the parish to help form adults in their faith so that they feel equipped and empowered to be the primary catechists for their children.
In an effort to help form the parents of our children, we will be asking that at least one parent attend adult formation on the 2nd Sunday of each month.
Parents will meet with catechetical leaders while their children participate in group formation with our parish catechists.
Each adult formation session will focus on the theme that is the primary focus of the family’s upcoming “Family Meeting.” The goal, in addition to general faith formation for our adults, is to help them be better prepared to discuss the specific topic of each family meeting with their children.
For example, if the subject of the family meeting for October is “The Creed,” the 2nd Sunday adult formation session will also focus on “The Creed.”
Our 2nd Sunday catechesis will begin in the auditorium with a group prayer, then students will be dismissed to their catechists. At this time, parents will begin their own formation until 10:20, when their children return from their catechists.
The adult formation will be offered in English & Spanish.

From Passport Events to Pathway Events
One of the more significant changes to the new model is the change regarding our Passport events. In place of Passport events, the Evangelization team will be hosting “Pathway Events.”
Much like our Passport Events, families will be invited to participate in a variety of parish, community-building events.
Students will participate in Pathway Events, at least one per month. These events include Eucharist Adoration offered every Tuesday, Family movie nights, Pray and Play, as well as many other faith-enriching, fun activities. As students participate in these Pathway Events, they will no longer have to get “Passports” stamped. Participation in the event will be recorded through our Pathways app called “Martha.”

Pathway Events
The following is a tentative list of Pathway Events. Please always check the bulletin and Flocknote for the latest updates for the following events, as well as events added in the future.
Regularly scheduled Pathway Events - Families can use these as one of their Pathway Events once.- 1st Friday Adoration - 6 pm, CTK Chapel.
- Tuesday Night Adoration - 6-7 pm, STB.
- Rosary - After 9 am Mass, on the 3rd Sunday of each month, STB. Bernadette.
- Family Movie Night - 3rd Friday of Odd numbered months, 6:30 pm at STB.
- Pray & Play - 3rd Friday of even-numbered months, 6:30 pm, location varies.
- Stations of the Cross - Every Friday during Lent, locations and time TBD.
A calendar for 2024-2025 will be made available by the end of May.
We have added a new set of Pathways events this year entitled, “Praying with the Littles.” These Pathway events will begin earlier in the afternoon so families with the youngest members of our formation (children in grades Pre-K through 1st grade) can enjoy the fun without disrupting bedtime routines.

Martha App
What is Martha? Is the online learning management platform we are using to deliver digital content, communicate, view progress, family follow through and view calendar with upcoming events related to Faith Formation.
At the end of each family meeting, you will be able to submit a photo, text response or audio response to show us your progress. Families will also submit a photo, text or audio response when attending Pathways Events.
For those familiar with our old model of formation, think of “Martha” as our new, digital “Passport.”
Each Family Meeting and each Pathway Event will provide you with specific instructions on what you are to submit through the Martha App.

Tuition Costs
How much does Pathways Faith Formation cost?
- Tuition:
$100 for a family with one child
$190 for a family with two children
$285 for a family with three children
$285 + 50 for each additional child for a family of 4 or more children
Children in Pre-K and Kindergarten are free when a sibling is registered in Grades 1 to 6.
Please note that Middle School Faith Formation, High School Faith Formation and Sacrament Preparation have separate fees.
Payment
To ensure your child has a place in our Pathways formation, tuition is due at the time of registration. Registrations for the 2024-2025 school year are due by June 25th.
Tuition can be paid by check, cash (only accepted in-person at the parish center), or credit card. Please make checks payable to Christ the King. Be sure to indicate that the funds are for Pathways on checks or enveloped cash payments. - Tuition:

Frequently asked questionsAre parents “required” to attend formation classes on the 2nd Sunday?
Yes, it is important that parents feel equipped and empowered to lead a faith-based lesson with their children. These adult formation classes will not only offer you the opportunity to learn more about your faith and how to live it, it will offer you the opportunity to have faith-based discussions with other parents.
What if my child misses a 2nd Sunday session?
We understand that circumstances may arise that may prevent you from attending a Sunday session. Parents are permitted to miss one of the six Sunday sessions. Families who miss more than one session will be asked to attend Summer Sessions. Families who miss multiple sessions will be asked to meet with the program director.
Does Pathways faith formation include preparation for the sacraments?
No, but the child/teen will need to successfully complete the faith formation program before getting invited to the sacrament preparation program.
My child has special needs when it comes to their schooling. Can he or she still participate in Pathways?
Absolutely, your child will have a place in our program. We are blessed to have a number of adults who have professional or personal experience working with young people with learning disabilities. If your child has an IEP, or any other student accommodation, this should be noted on your child’s registration.\
Who attends the 2nd Sunday formation classes?
All children enrolled in Pathways, grades Pre-K through 8th grade, should attend our 2nd Sunday formation classes along with at least one parent or guardian.
What time are 2nd Sunday formation classes?
Classes will begin at 9 am and will end by 10:30 am.
How long with Pathways Formation classes last throughout the year?
The program will kick off in August. Classes will continue from September - November, with no classes in December. Classes will resume in January and finish on April 9th. Pathway events will continue through the month of May.
How much does Pathways for Elementary Faith Formation cost?
$100 for a family with one child

The tuition for each family will help offset expenses not only from the Pathways copyrighted materials but also for the materials used during our Pathways Events (Pray and Play, Movie Nights, etc.) and supplies needed for our 2nd Sunday formation sessions.

Payment is due at the time of registration. The due day for tuition is June 25th. If payment cannot be made by this time, please contact the director.

The deadline for registration is June 25th. Registrations received after this date may not be accepted depending on classroom sizes for our Sunday sessions.
